The entire period under references witnessed, as is known, first the establishment of Mughal rule in India, then its overthrow by the Pathans, and finally its re-establishment. The star role played by Bairam Khan, particularly in the restoration and consolidation of the Mughal Empire may not, however, be so commonly known.
