Gabriel Garcia Marquez was a Colombian citizen who was born in Aracataca in 1927. After studying at the University of Botoga, he worked as a reporter in Colombia’s newspaper El Espectador, as well as as a foreign correspondent in Rome and Paris, Barcelona, Caracas, and New York. Many of his stories and novels include Eyes of a Blue Dog (1947), Leaf Storm (55), No One Writesto the Colonel (58), In Evil Hour (1962), Big Mama’s Funeral(62), One Hundred Years of Solitude(67), Innocent Erendira and Other Stories) (1972), The Autumn of the Patriarch (1881), Chronicle of a Death Foretold (1981), Love In the Time of Cholera (1985), Love in the Time of Cholera (1985), Of Love and Other Demons (1992), Of Love and Other Demons (1994), and Memories of my Melancholy Whores (2005). Penguin has published many of his books. In 1982, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. Gabriel Garcia Marquez passed away in 2014.
