The book acompasses the determinants and panacea  of the poverty problems in Bihar. So i is of immense use for scholars, planners, policy makers and administrators.

This book seeks to explore the link between growth and poverty, agricultural growth and poverty, agrarian relations and poverty and the impact of various poverty alleviation programmes on poverty. Based on secondary data this study concludes that the limited Impact of trickledown effect of agricultural growth, the iniquitous agvarian relations in the State, and the ineffective PAP’s have been responsible for the perpetuation of poverty in the State.

The colossal poverty in Bihar is puzzling for a State registering double digit growth since 2004 uptill now. There are various non -economic factors besides economic aspects of poverty that need a special focus to delve into the poverty malaise ailing Bihar especially for the last four decades.
