One hundred people turned their backs against a millennium worth of slavery and degradation at a mass rally held in Nagpur, India, on the morning of 14 October 1956. They finally renounced Hinduism and its cruel system of ‘graded inequality, and turned to Buddhism to find dignity, hope, and a path to self-improvement. As hundreds of thousands of others followed their lead, Hindu India was shaken as the Buddha Dhamma returned to its homeland. This historic revival was solely due to Dr. Bhimrao RAMji Ambedkar, politician and educator. He was India’s first law Minister and chief architect of her constitution. He is also a champion for her downtrodden millions.
