The Gita is a concise summary of ancient Indian philosophy. It focuses on the supreme spirit, which is both immanent as well as transcendent. The poem was first published in the west two hundred years ago. It has been translated into almost every language today and is the most popular of all the eastern scriptures. It focuses on selflessness and two other aspects. The present work is unique because it includes the Recension of Gita and illuminating essays about the poem. It serves as a bridge between modern occidental thought and the Gita’s oriental approach.
