Vimala Thakar was born in India and began her spiritual journey at five years old. She was a young woman who traveled extensively and gave lectures for Vinoba Bhave’s Land Gift Movement, an associate of Mahatma. From 1956 to 1961, her meetings with Krishnamurti had a profound impact on her life. She taught meditation retreats in 35 countries from the 1960s through the 1980s. In 1991, she stopped traveling to India and now lives in Mount Abu in Rajasthan. Here, she meets people from all around the globe.
“Blossoms Of Friendship” captures the inexplicable nature of Vimala Thakar’s talks and makes each one taste like a delicious treat. Chapter five, “The Silence of Meditation”, is my favorite. It reminds us of how important and necessary spiritual practice is in today’s world.
