The Blue Annals, a landmark in Tibetan historical literature, was written by Gos lo-tsaba-gZon nu dpal (1392-1481 A.D.). It is the primary source of information for all subsequent historical compilations in “Land of Snows”. It is a valuable work in that it provides a clear chronology of Tibetan events and details the names and spiritual lines of prominent religious teachers. Each chapter focuses on a specific school or sect in Tibetan Buddhism’s history. The book is divided into fifteen chapters. It offers a comparative analysis of the chronological data provided by Tang Annals Blue Annals and Tunhuang Chronicles. The Blue Annals seems to faithfully reproduce the Tang Annals list with minor differences. The book ends with a description of the origin. The four schools were represented in the book. It includes indexes of Sutras, Sastras, Personal Names & Book Titles, and Personal Names (Tibetan).
