Justice Basawarajaiah Raikote was born in 1937, the son of Shivayya Raikote. He learned music from his paternal uncle Rachayya Raikote who was an accomplished violinist of his day. He received his M.A. He received his M.A. and L.L.M degrees from Karnataka University in Dharwar. He then became an Advocate. He was also an Hon. He was also an Hon. He was a Principal at a Law College. Later, he was appointed as a judge of the High Court of Karnataka. He was very active in his academic pursuits right from his student years. He published many articles on Law. He resigned as Judge and received his Ph.D. in Karnataka University. His thesis was on Indian Philosophy of Nada, its Vocal Applications, published in the present book.
