The first volume of Opera Omnia, which is partly autobiographical and deals with Raimon Panikkar’s most important theme in his life, is partly autobiographical. It was a major inspiration for his writings and has since become an indispensable hermeneutical tool. Mysticism is the third dimension that brings the pages to life and puts them into relief. Man is reduced to a species in the eyes or to reason. This is the status of the rational animal. We will see that human life (zoe), is more than its biological existence (bios). Man is not just in the likeness or the Source, Wellspring, Cause (all homeomorphic equivalents), but also in the image and reality of Reality. This mikrokosmos mirrors the entire makrokosmos, as the Ancients used the term (up to Paracelsus, the followers of the philosophyia adepta). The distinction between likeness and image is more theological than lexical. This volume is divided into two parts for practical reasons. However, it should be clear from the beginning that the two themes of mysticism or spirituality can be distinguished, but not separated. Mysticism has had a bad reputation in certain circles. There have been too many books written about it, and the results are not good. If you add spirituality to the mix, the situation becomes even more dire.
