This work is an exposition of the philosophic conceptions basic to Mahayana Buddhsim as found in the Maha-prajnaparamita-sastra a commentary on the Prajnaparamita-sutras and traditionally attributed to Nagarjuna. The sastra, the most important and extensive work in this area, is lost in its sanskrit version and only a Chinese translation has been preserved. The notes provide additional materials and help with understanding the meaning of sanskrit terms and chinese terms. A brief historical overview of early stages of Buddhist philosophy is included in the preface to this study. This work aims to clarify the meaning of the Middle Way and the path of comprehension. “Everything is in harmony with Sunyata. This is not a rejection or denial of existence, but rather a misconstruction or error of absoluteness that is the root of suffering and conflict.
