Thich Nhat Hnh was born in Hue, Vietnam. He is a Buddhist Zen Master and poet as well as a scholar and human rights activist. Martin Luther King nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1967. He established the Van Hanh Buddhist University, the School of Youth and Social Service, and the Plum Village Buddhist Community and Meditation Centre in France. This was where he lived many years. Many of his books, including Peace is Every Step and Old Path White Clouds, have been praised. He currently resides at the Tu Hieu Temple, Vietnam, where he was ordained as a priest when he turned sixteen.
