TIRUPPATTUR RAMESHAYAR VENKATACHALA MOURTI was born to a South Indian Brahmana family. He attended Tiruppattur, then Tiruchhirapalli. His undergraduate studies were done at Bishop Heber College. After a long gap, he joined Gandhi’s Nationalist Movement in 1952.
