The Conception of Buddhist Nirvana of Th. Stcherbatsky

The Conception of Buddhist Nirvana offers an English translation of Nagarjuna’s chapters on causality, nirvana, and chandrakiriti’s extensive commentary on Sanskrit texts. It also presents a rare exposition of Madhyamaka Dialectic. Jaideva Singh edited the book. It includes an extensive introduction that provides the history of Madhyamaka philosophy, a clear explanation of its brutal logic, admirable presentation its uncanny metaphysics, and a systematic account its soteriology, and Buddhology. The editor also provides an Analysis of Contents. He has added the Sanskrit commentary and portions of the text to which Stcherbatsky based his book. This will allow the reader to compare Stcherbatsky’s version with the original Sanskrit.
