Grhya Sutras are rules that govern customs, ceremonies, and sacrifices. These are the means by which an Indian’s life is purified. These records include a variety of customs and ways that are associated with conception, births, name giving, first eating, first outing, and first outing. The Jaimini School for Samaveda owns the Grhya Sutra. It is divided into two parts. Part I contains details about regular sacrifices where cooked food is offered for the deities. The work continues with the description and details of a ceremony to ensure the birth of a male child. The detailed description of the house and the allaying of rodigies is followed by the recitation of Veda during fast. The appeasing of malefic planets to the householder concludes the program.
