William Zinsser works as a teacher, editor, and writer. His career began with the New York Herald Tribune. He has been a freelance journalist for many leading magazines since then. He was the master of Branford College at Yale during the 1970s. He was the general editor of the Book-of-the-Month Club from 1979 to 1987. He is also the author of 15 books that range from jazz to baseball. He is now an instructor at the New School in New York.
