Tenzin Gyatso is His Holiness, the Dalai Lama. He is the spiritual leader for Tibetan Buddhists. He has lived in exile in Dharamsala since 1959 when China invaded Tibet. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 for his peaceful efforts to liberate Tibet. Jean-Claude Carriere, a French actor and writer, was honoured with the 2014 Academy Award. He was presented the Padma Shri in 2015 for his contributions to literature and education. He has written screenplays for over forty films, including The Return of Martin Guerre and The Unbearable Lightness of Being. He lives in France.
