Undoubtedly, the Vedas are one of the most amazing manifestations of Spirit. Unfortunately, the Vedas are too often ignored in both their home country and in the wider world. This Vedic anthology will allow a wider audience to gain direct and useful knowledge of the Vedas than just a few Indologists and pandits. The anthology contains the most important texts from the Indian Sacred Scriptures, which total more than 500. They have been translated into modern English. Dr. Panikkar has chosen and placed texts in a way that allows him to present a variety of texts that encompass the entire range of the ‘The Vedic Experience’ while also showing how they reflect the universal rhythms and cycles of history, nature, and man. Excerpts come from the Rig Veda, the Brahmanas and the Aranyakas (or “Forest Treatises”), and then the Upanishads which are the mystical, philosophical culmination and the Vedas. This book is for meditation, reading in private and public, and for deep study of the wellsprings of human wisdom. It will facilitate the long-awaited and urgent meeting of East and West.
