A vedic consonance is a massive work that Maurice Bloomfield, an American sanskritist, has prepared and published. It provides a quick and easy way to determine the following: First, where a particular mantra is found if it occurs; second, whether it occurs elsewhere with or without variants. Third, if it occurs with variations what are those variants. For the concordance, there have been contributions from a total of 119 texts. There is a lot of material that has not been published in the concordance. It is possible to use the concordance for indirect or secondary purposes that are not less important for systematic progress in vedic studies.
