This volume is the second in a series that includes five volumes about the global history and philosophy. In this and subsequent volumes instead of the traditional division of western and non western philosophies each philosophy is seen in relation to global contemporaries.throughout Eurasia. Scholasticism is not to be interpreted as juggling arguments by straw men. It should be understood in the context of a challenge in our own time to achieve systematic and consistent systematic synthesis. All the ‘older traditions’ must be reinterpreted in light of’modern conditions’. This is, after all, what the Eurasian scholars of the past centuries were doing. These volumes, as with the entire series, are a new way to explore the accumulated wisdom of mankind and also explode many ethnocentric stereotypes that still prevent intercultural communication and intercultural understanding.
