The Brhadaranyaka is the Great Forest. Upanisad, or the revelation of the forest within the forest, is called the Brhadaranyaka. That is the truth about life, the forest where we are lost and without hope. We live in death, and for death. This is the condition of our being. Is it possible to imagine our lives without being tied to death? In terms of fighting against it, a struggle we lose in vain? Because death is, we are. Our life is just a celebration of it. It is to it that we are eternally married, and this is the eternal sleep. We will never see this truth in our lives, and our life will continue to be choking, chaotic, and confusing as long as it is not. Our immortality lies in our inability to see the truth in this chaos and confusion. This is what the Upanisad tells us. It teaches us that in denial of all we know and are, lies the true affirmation and truth of our truth and existence. Volume 5, in its two parts, concludes the author’s contemplation on the revelatory part. For him, it has been an absorbing contemplation that was elevating and ecstatic. It is hoped that he will experience the same feeling of elevation and ecstatic. It is hoped that the same spirit will accompany his contemplation on the Bhagavadgita or the Brahmasutras, and that his thoughtful minds will appreciate that contemplation just as much as they valued his contemplation on the Upanisads.
