Local Resistance to British Colonialism (1858 - 1912), the present study is based mainly on primary sources like government of India and Bihar Home ( special ) political files, Bihar and Orissa Reports, Educational Reports of Bengal, Survey and Settlement Reports, District Gazetteers, Memories and Reports of Certain individuals, Census Reports, besides secondary sources like books, Newspapers and journals available in various archives and libraries. Therefore , a need to make an in-depth study of the history of Gaya district from 1858 to 1912. Analyse the interplay of various forces and factors in the district with the help of activities of certain charismatic personalities. Since the history of the district under study is multi dimensional, multi dimensional approach is required to probe it.
