The present book "Diversity in Indian Mindset- Impact of Family Socialization" aims to explore the diversity in the mindset of Indian. Diversity in the mindset refers to the fact that the thoughts, feelings, and behaviour of an individual varies, some of which could be consistent with each other while others could be inconsistent and even contradictory. The presence of inconsistent and contradictory thoughts, feelings, and behaviour reflect a discrepant mindset. Such a discrepant mindset is likely to be acquired during Indians" primary socialization in the family. This book also endeavors to probe the influence of parents, teachers and friends on the adolescent mindset right from the process of primary socialization. The behaviour and attitude of Indian mindset is completely dependent on the context consisting of person, time and place. This explains why they behave differently in different situations and with different people On the other hand, they may behave in the same manner in different situations with different people at the same time. All these contradictory values, beliefs and practices coexist and work in complementary manner, without causing any dissonance and discomfort. This diversity enables them to remain context sensitive. as their behaviour varies in different situations, which in turn increases their adaptability. The present book is based on research project of ICSSR, New Delhi.
