Political Reality & Political Consciousness

Political Reality and political consciousness in Bihar is a chronicle of events consisting of feudal remnants, the mass brutal suppression of 1857, first world war, the maiden communist revolution of 1917 in Tzarist Russa and the permeation of industrial development in its various shapes apart from the cultural, religious and social reforms movement under the agis of Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Dayanand Sanswati, Annic Besant etc and its impact on Bihar. From 1917 to 1934 Bihar along with India witnessed historic movement beginning with Champaran Indigo growers struggle to the enactment of Govt. of India act 1935. It also saw people's upsurge against Mont ford Report, Rowlatt Act 1919, Khilafat movement, Non cooperation movement during the twenties, Civil disobedience movement of 1930, revolutionary activities and the sacrifies of Bhagat Singh and his patriots. These political activities were also supported by struggle against social ills of the time. The reality of social tension and the emerging political consciousness due to interaction of ideas and practices by coming in contact with British Educational institutions and administrative set up facilitated the mobilization and awaking of Bihari society during these years. The main motive of this book is to bring forth the ideas that evolved during this period of social mobilization in Bihar.
